MOJADO

Add to Memories Share

Having heard the presidential address tonight, I feel it necessary to post this Ricardo Arjona song.... Being a "pseudomexicana" from Texas who lived in Guadalajara for 4 years, I am sending my love out to the beautiful people who crossed a bridge or fence or swam a river to come here and work hard cleaning our floors...washing dishes...or doing whatever they can to make a living!

Mojado
Ricardo Arjona

Composição: Ricardo Arjona

Empaco un par de camisas, un sombrero,
su vocación de aventurero,
6 consejos, 7 fotos, mil recuerdos.

Mojado,
Sabe a mentira tu verdad,

Trader Joes????

OK...gotta rant. I am gettin' a little sick of this waiting in line thing here in NYC. (Yes, that's IN line, not ON it!) I wanted to buy some groceries yesterday....went to Trader Joe's....there was a line outside the door and down the block! Luckily the wine store is separate, so I left with some 2 buck chuck (really more like 2.99). I'll get my food at DAG's until the novelty wears off....or else I'll do my grocery shopping at 8am on Tuesday!
NOTE TO TRADER JOE'S CEO: open more stores in Manhattan!

Girls' day out

So yesterday it was raining in NYC....but that didn't keep us from hitting the cosmetics counter at Bloomingdale's for a "free make-over." It was a little disappointing because all 3 of us are fair, and the Benefit ladies used one-color-fits-all tinted mousturizer on us. It was just so wrong!.....but it was our own fault.... Honestly, it wasn't Bergdorf's!....next time we won't cheat ourselves....no place does makeup like BG's! Here are Wava, Ann, Me, and Barbara out on the town. We were all gung-ho for hot chocolate (cold day), but Serendipity and Alice's Tea Cup had 2.5 hour and 45min waits respectively! We settled for the espresso bar around the corner.

Concrete Jungle

This was a long week...I have never so appreciated being able to sit on my butt in front of my computer. Really.... lately I envy people with desk jobs who actually get to check their email once in a while!...And New York City is a crazy place to live and work. This Cyndi Lauper song is so NYC for me right now....except that I'm not waiting for anyone. "The streets are filled with too many babies"...yep, that's me and my job! I'm just on cloud nine because I get to sleep in tomorrow :)

"That's What I Think"
(Cyndi Lauper, Rob Hyman, Allee Willis, Eric Bazilian)

Sometimes I think
Things are overwhelming
Sometimes I think
I don't know what I'll do
But I forget the world
And everything around me
That's what I think
When I think about you

The streets are filled
With too many babies
Black air in a sky of blue
People pass by
No life in their eyes
The concrete jungle's
Really going crazy

Sometimes I think
Things
are overwhelming...

The rent is due
And the pockets are empty
People ask machines
For the truth
No crystal ball
Can help see it all
But where we gonna find
The dreams to feed the babies

Baby life goes on
That's what people say
But I'm nowhere
If you go away
I'd just be looking
For a brighter day

Sometimes I think
Things are overwhelming...
What can I do
Forget about the world
And everything around me
That's what I think
When I think about you
